An elegant vintage Seth Thomas grandfather clock distinguished by its richly grained wood case, sculpted floral ornament, and elaborate gold-tone moon-phase dial. Dating to approximately 1980, this model 4499A brings architectural presence and warm character to a traditional entryway, library, or living room.

The arched crown features a central floral motif framed by sweeping molded curves. Fluted columns extend along the glazed front door, leading to a complementary floral panel and substantial stepped base. The warm brown finish highlights the wood’s pronounced grain and gives the case depth and texture.

Dial bearing the Seth Thomas name combines raised Arabic numerals, decorative corner spandrels, intricate floral patterning, and pierced black hands. Above it, the moon-phase display features a pastoral scene and twin hemispheres. Three polished gold-tone weight shells and a lyre-style pendulum remain visible through the tall glass door.

The clock features a mechanical, weight-driven movement with selectable Westminster, St. Michael, and Whittington chimes, plus a silent setting. Accompanying Seth Thomas paperwork includes installation instructions, a Talley Industries booklet, and an inspection tag—appealing surviving details that complement the clock’s vintage character.
