An exceptional and rare matched set of four “Radar” lounge chairs designed by Maurizio Tempestini for John B. Salterini during the 1950s, presented with a coordinating vintage round cocktail table and side wrought iron plant stand.
Among the most expressive American outdoor designs of the midcentury period, Tempestini’s Radar chair transforms wrought iron into a light, dynamic composition. A dramatic circular frame surrounds two individually curved panels of expanded metal mesh, forming the chair’s sculptural back and seat. The flat-bar cantilever base provides a subtle springing motion while giving the chair its distinctive floating profile.
